We called it Viola's Little House.
An apartment in the heart of Posticciola, designed for those who want to experience the village with the freedom and comfort of a real home.
One of the things that makes La Casina di Viola special is its privileged location. The terrace overlooks the valley and Lake Turano, offering a wide, open view of the surrounding landscape. It's the ideal place to start the day with an al fresco breakfast, read a book, or simply let yourself be carried away by the colors and rhythms of nature.

The Village and the Territory
Posticciola is a small medieval village in the Turano Valley, overlooking the lake and surrounded by the Sabina mountains.
Known for its murals, its Museo Diffuso delle Arti Contadine (Diffuse Museum of Peasant Arts), and for being a stop on the Cammino di San Benedetto (Way of St. Benedict), the village still retains an authentic and welcoming character today.
But what makes this place truly special is not just the landscape.
It's the sense of community you feel as you stroll through its narrow streets.
Here, people greet each other when they meet, even if they don't know each other. In the alleys and small squares, you can find pots of basil, sage, and rosemary grown by the locals and left available for anyone who wishes to pick a few leaves.
They are simple gestures, but they tell of a way of life made of sharing, trust, and care for others.

From the evocative walk to the Romanesque Bridge, crossing woods, waterways and the remains of an ancient mill immersed in nature, to the trekking to Monte Navegna up to the Vallocchie waterfalls, one of the most evocative corners of the area.
A Place to Live
Many guests set out from the village for a walk to the lake dam or the evocative Romanesque bridge. Others arrive in hiking boots, or with a yoga mat under their arm. Both often end up finding their favorite spot along the lake or in the woods surrounding the village.

Where is it located?
La Casina di Viola is located in the heart of Posticciola, a small village in the Turano Valley overlooking the mountains and just a few minutes from the shores of the lake.
Despite being located in the historic center, it enjoys a particularly convenient location: in fact, it is possible to reach the house by car up to about 15 meters from the entrance , making it easier to load and unload luggage.
In Posticciola, you'll find two trattorias. The first represents a true historical reminder of the village: it was already a meeting place when our grandparents and great-grandparents were children, and it continues to welcome locals and travelers with the same simplicity today.
The second, more recently opened, offers a cuisine that combines tradition and conviviality and is also known for its excellent pizza.
A few minutes' drive away is Rocca Sinibalda, dominated by its imposing Renaissance castle and a hub for those wishing to purchase typical local products, from local gastronomic specialties to the excellent local produce of Sabina.
Also nearby is the historic Lago del Turano dam, completed in 1939, which created the lake and helped create one of the most evocative landscapes in the province of Rieti.
Finally, among the places we definitely recommend is Chalet Turano , a property surrounded by greenery with large terraces overlooking the lake. It's the ideal place to enjoy an aperitif, lunch, or simply a break surrounded by nature, accompanied by music, trees, and a spectacular view of the Turano. Nicola and Massimo , two friends and professionals who have transformed this corner of the lake into an authentic meeting place, will welcome you. With excellent cocktails, grilled cuisine , and a sincere passion for hospitality, they will make you feel part of the local area from the very first moment.

Our story
There are places that are inherited.
Not through a notarial deed, but through memories, the stories told at the table by grandparents and great-grandparents, the sacrifices of those who came before us, and the love for a land that continues to call you, even when you live elsewhere.
Viola's House was born here.
It was born from the desire to do something together, as husband and wife. To build a small project that reflects us and upholds the values we believe in: hospitality, simplicity, respect for the land, and the right—now more necessary than ever—to slow down.
It also stems from a desire to honor the memory of those who walked these streets before us: parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents who worked this land, built these homes, and helped keep this village alive.
Every stone, every alley, and every view tells a story that we feel duty-bound and privileged to preserve.
We have chosen to dedicate this house to our daughter Viola, the most beautiful gift that life has given us.
Perhaps one day we'll tell her about this adventure. About the doubts, the sacrifices, the work, and the hopes that have accompanied us. We'll tell her that it all began with a simple idea: to create a place where people can feel welcome, greet each other as they pass each other in the village alleys, rediscover the value of time and nature.
And maybe we'll tell her that this house has never been just a home.
For us this is a small gesture of love towards the past, an act of trust in the future and an invitation, for anyone who enters, to take the time to find themselves again .
